I am just starting to sell off my tonewood on eBay. I am 68 years old and have more than I could use if I lived to be 200 years old. Turns out I am not a very prolific guitar maker, but one hell of a wood collector. My collection started in 1968 and has grown ever since. Selling on eBay is going to be a little hard for me in the start. I have been selling imprinted t-shirts on eBay since 2006. I ran a brick and mortar screen printing and embroidery business from 1989 until last year. I have turned that entire business over to my daughter who is trying to grow it with more "youth oriented" items. But getting all the paperwork turned over to her so I can start a separate store, Paypal account, etc. is kind of a pain. I have over 5000 reviews. 100% score. When I start my wood store, I go back to zero reviews and no score. If she has to start over on eBay, she has the same problem. I am just going to keep putting items up and see what happens. My wife and I are moving to a smaller home. When all that is done, I will get a website started and hopefully start supporting the Official Luthiers Forum by advertising on this site. I have a couple of nice sets of Ziricote up on eBay now. Different species coming soon.

Ha! Isn't that our job, to hoard an ever increasing stash of vanishing tonewood supply for future luthiers? If I don't retire now (or in reasonable time - I'm 62), I have enough wood to build guitars at my present rate until 2060.

Thanks for the responses. I will point out that this was NOT a I OLF sponsor. I think I'll be sticking with the sponsors here. eBay isn't my bag either. I've been forced to buy some things on eBay because I couldn't get them anywhere else (NOS Italian bicycle parts) but that's a rare situation.

I'm going to try a torrified red spruce top from Colonial just to see what the fuss is all about. I saw John Hall's video and was intrigued. Seemed like an obvious difference to me. I question how long a torrified top will last but what do I know?

Thanks again,

-j

These two are not eBay but very well respected.

I have purchased wood from RC Tonewood , Hibbdon , Colonial , Cook Woods and others they have been fair good quality and more . On ebay I have purchased "Brazilian" that turned out to be Pau Ferro and others that bought from the same guy that were ripped off so my best advice is KNOW YOUR SUPPLIER and Ebay isn't the best place to purchase. The seller would not accept the return and ebay did in the end step in but that guy is still selling fake Brazilian.
I know RC is Zootman on Ebay and I have bought a good bit and was never burned.

By the way, I wanted to say thanks for putting together your torrified vs regular video. I was swayed by it and bought some. I like that sound.

Even though I'm new to this game I've already bought from: Lmi, Cook, Higdon, Allen, Stew Mac, Colonial and a local guy. I'm extremely pleased with everything I've gotten. Absolutely everything from all of these companies has been exactly as described. I could've saved money on shipping but I'd rather spread the love around and each company seems to have a specialty that I wanted.
